The microphone in my iPhone headphones died a little while back (general wear and tear). So I brought some Sennheiser headphones to get some with better sound quality. And they do sound a lot better. But…

… everything else about them sucks. (I’m pretty sure Amazon didn’t have the picture when I ordered them or I would’ve spotted some of these issues.)
Let’s start with the split bit of the cable, uneven splits are just rubbish. The lack of balance means the rest of the cable is more likely to get caught in stuff going past your side. Like, for an admittedly unlikely example, your arms. And obviously an even split means the main bit of the cable goes straight down your front, less likely to get snagged on a tree branch, unless the branch also impales you.
Moving down to the microphone/controller, it’s huge, but to make worse the clicker is tiny so hard to press. The Apple headphones mic/controller is small, the perfect size for something that’s essentially hanging off your ear. (The huge size on the Sennheisers does make keeping the headphones in your ear difficult.)
And lastly the rest of the cable, not only is it massive (Peter Crouch could keep his iPod in his sock) but because the split is not central & it’s not very flexible it’s always hanging way off to the side to catch on stuff.
In conclusion this is why my iPhone took a fall, and why there’s a bunch of dead pixels in the top right of the screen. Bugger.
